A terrible disease has made Lily lose her sight, so Maddison has become Lily’s guide dog and best friend.

Lily is a beautiful Great Dane, but when she was 6 years old, a terrible disease happened to her lovely dog: Lily’s eyelashes grew back into her eyes. If that condition continued, Lily’s health would be in even more danger. Therefore, the veterinarians had to remove both of Lily’s eyes. And Maddison – Lily’s “best friend” – who was 7 years old at the time, volunteered to become a guide dog for poor Lily. Since then, Lily and Maddison have become inseparable “friends”.

Maddison is a very good guide dog. Whenever the two of them play together, Maddison will be the one to lead the way and Lily will follow behind. Occasionally, Maddison will touch Lily to let her know the way. Not only playing the role of “guide”, Maddison also cares for Lily very much, always looking after her little friend. The two friends still lived together at the previous owner’s family until last July, when the owner of the two dogs had difficulty raising them.

Therefore, Maddison and Lily are looking for new owners. The problem is that these two dogs were forced to be sold as a pair, so from July until now, no one has claimed them. Lily and Maddison are still at the Dogs Trust (Shrewsbury, England) waiting for someone to come and adopt them. Every day, the two often play together on the center’s lawn. Maddison “looks after” Lily from walking, eating, she is always there and helps Lily whenever Lily needs.

Although lacking eyes, it seems that Lily’s other senses have become very sensitive. Louise Campbell, Dogs Trust manager, said Lily can tell when Maddison is nearby: “They often curl up and sleep next to each other. When they play together, Lily and Maddison almost understand each other. When Lily wants to move forward and Maddison is in the way, Lily’s bark will be higher than usual and Maddison will stand aside.” Almost everyone loves these two gentle, obedient dogs and their precious friendship.

For a long time, Maddison has always been Lily’s companion. Not only is she a guide dog, Maddison is also Lily’s best friend and “nanny”. What’s special is that Maddison seems to never forget her “mission”: to always be there for you when you need it, always care for you and look after you.
