Overlooked for Being ‘Too Old,’ This Senior Dog Still Waits — With a Heart Full of Love and Hope for One Last Chance

They don’t stop at my kennel anymore.

Not like they used to.

Once upon a time, I was the puppy everyone wanted — bouncing with energy, eyes wide with wonder, fur soft and full of promise. Back then, the world felt big and full of chances. I had dreams too — of a home, a family, a place to belong.

But time passed. My muzzle grew gray. My steps slowed. The sparkle in my eyes softened into something quieter — not gone, just… gentler. And now, when people walk by, they glance and move on. I hear them whisper, “Too old.”

But I want them to know something.

I may not be young. I may not run as fast or catch every ball… but I still have so much love left to give.

My heart is still strong. My loyalty is unshaken. I still wag my tail when I see someone kind. I still press my head into a gentle hand, hoping to be felt — to be seen.

If someone, just one person, looked beyond my age, beyond the tired eyes, they’d find a soul full of quiet devotion. A companion who won’t ask for much — just a soft bed, a warm voice, and the chance to love again.
