Senior Dog Rescued in Critical Condition, Believed to Be Battling Autoimmune Disease

When a heartbreaking photo accompanied the simple plea, “Can you help him?”, the answer was an immediate and unwavering yes. The elderly dog was rushed straight to Stray Rescue, where he was greeted with compassion and open arms.

The moment he arrived, it was clear—this senior boy had already captured the hearts of his rescuers. Despite his frail appearance and the visible crusting on his nose, he radiated a quiet gentleness. After a preliminary assessment, the medical team suspects he may be suffering from an autoimmune disease, possibly lupus.

Lupus in dogs, much like in humans, is a condition in which the immune system turns against the body, attacking healthy tissues. It can cause serious inflammation, discomfort, and damage to various organs. Blood tests have been sent off to confirm the diagnosis, and while awaiting the results, the team has started him on antibiotics and is providing supportive care.

“He’s such an angel,” one caregiver shared. “We gently cleaned all the debris off his nose, gave him soft, cushy blankets, and reassured him he’s safe now.”

Despite the uncertainty ahead, there’s one thing the team at Stray Rescue is certain of—they won’t give up on him. Not now. Not ever.

“We will fight this together,” they wrote. “And you all know us… we don’t stop fighting until they’re better.”

To support his recovery and ongoing medical care, donations can be made directly through Stray Rescue. Every contribution helps give this sweet soul a second chance at the comfort and love he deserves.
