FOUND IN A GARBAGE BAG, A ONE-EYED PUPPY IS WAITING FOR A NEW HOME

Thor is everything you’d expect from an 8-week-old Chihuahua: he’s curious, loves to eat, and especially loves cuddling and playing with his new foster sister. But just a week ago, his life was completely different.

Employees of the Department of Animal Control in Dickinson, Texas, received a call about a garbage bag lying on the side of the road in which something appeared to be moving.

When they arrived on the spot and opened the bag, a 3-kilogram Thor looked at them from the inside. He was full of fleas and there was blood on his body. His right eye was displaced from orbit and he was shivering with cold.

Officers took the puppy to the Animal Kingdom Veterinary Clinic, where doctors immediately stabilized him, but his right arm was so badly infected that it had to be removed.

“We had no idea if he would survive the surgery to remove his eye,” says Christine Smith, a veterinary technician at the clinic. “Fortunately, he succeeded and everything went better than expected.”

In fact, Thor was rescued just in time: at his age, he probably wouldn’t have survived another night tied up in a bag.

During the dog’s recovery, he spent some time with Smith and instantly captured her heart. Christine decided to take him home so that he could have a convenient place to treat and help the local shelter Bayou Animasl Services.

“The shelter was already overcrowded, so I knew it would be better for Thor to recover in a real home,” says Christine.

It wasn’t long before she noticed how desperately this little dog needed love. At any moment, he follows his foster mother, trying to cuddle with her.

Despite his difficult start in life, Thor recovered well from the operation and successfully fought parasites. Because he is so young, he quickly adapts to life with one eye, and it seems that this does not bother him at all. And very soon he will be ready for adoption.
