Residents in Roraima found a little dog trapped in a bag, abandoned on the roadside by a man on a bicycle. Her nose was tightly bound with a rubber band, her breathing weak, her body exhausted. They immediately removed the band and called us.

We rushed her to the nearest veterinary clinic. At first, many thought she was “angry,” but no — it wasn’t anger, it was sheer fear. It was clear she had suffered terribly, and it would take time for her to trust humans again.

To help her feel safe, we covered her eyes. Her body was infested with ticks, her blood weak — she needed a transfusion and hospitalization. I promised to take care of every little need: food, water, medication, and gentle comfort every single day.

And then, something magical happened. She didn’t trust anyone, but slowly, she began to trust me. Maybe she sensed kindness for the very first time. The next day, the vet performed a procedure to remove dead tissue around her mouth — the result of being tied shut for far too long. It broke my heart to see how badly that tiny mouth had been hurt.

But her wounds began to heal. And even more beautiful — her heart began to heal too. Just one month later, this little girl was shining day by day — fuller, happier, her eyes bright with hope.

I named her Bella. I’ve fallen in love with her — and I’m sorry, Bella won’t be up for adoption. She chose me, and I chose her. She will never be scared or lonely again. From now on, Bella will live in a home filled with love, becoming a symbol against animal abuse — a reminder that every living being deserves compassion.
